Curriculum Vitae

Rafaella Sotiropoulou was born in 1976. She is Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia. She holds a Diploma (1999) and a Ph.D. (2005) from the Department of Environment of the University of the Aegean. Prior to joining the Mechanical Engineering Department, she was an Associate Researcher of the NCSR “Demokritos” (Institute of Nuclear and Radiological Sciences and Technology, Energy, Safety and Environmental Technologies, Laboratory of Environmental Technologies). She was a post-doctoral researcher and Research Scientist II at Georgia Institute of Technology, School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Her research activities focus on issues of management of the atmospheric environment and climate change (air quality simulation, aerosol formation and transformation, anthropogenic impact on climate change, etc.). Her scientific work has been published in more than 15 international peer review scientific journals and in more than 70 articles in international and national scientific conferences. In 2006, she was selected and participated in the UCAR / NCAR Early Career Scientist Assembly (ECSA) Junior Faculty Forum on Future Scientific Directions (JFF).
