Krestou Athina was born in Athens on 1976. She obtained a diploma in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), an MSc on Materials for Engineering Applications from the University of Surrey, UK, and a PhD from the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, NTUA. From 2001 to 2008 she worked as an External Collaborator – Researcher in the Laboratory of Metallurgy, NTUA, developing research projects on the exploitation of industrial by-products or wastes as raw materials for new products (including nano-structured ones) and in the optimization of their physicochemical properties, for targeted applications. In the period from 2009 to 2018 she worked as a Laboratory and Scientific Collaborator of the Technological Education Institute of Western Macedonia, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Industrial Design and in the Divisions of Environmental Geotechnology and Pollution Control Technologies, teaching courses in the scientific areas of Materials and the Environment and drawing up research projects in corresponding fields. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UoWM, since December 2019.. |
