Areti D. Kontogianni holds a PhD (1998) in Environmental Management from Aegean University and a BSc in Agricultural Science (major in Economics and Sociology) (1989) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since 1998 she is Honorary Research Fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE), University of East Anglia (UK). In 2005 she acted as external advisor to the UK Ministry of the Environment (DEFRA) on participatory methods and environmental valuation. She served as external expert on several environmental national committees and task forces in Greece. During 1998-2004 she was Academic Coordinator for designing and implementing the Inter-University Postgraduate Program on Environmental Policy and Management. Since 2009 she is consulting the Governor of Bank of Greece on the economics of climate change impacts and adaptation. Her main research interests are: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Natural Resources Management; Cost-Benefit Analysis of Environmental Impacts and Non-Market Valuation; Environmental Ethics and Economic Values; Qualitative Research Methods in Environmental Management; Stakeholder Analysis; Environmental Risk perceptions; Fuzzy cognitive mapping; Study of Environmental Disputes She has participated in more than 50 research projects (coordinating 4 European projects from EU FP7) and presented her research in more than 100 conferences and workshops. She has 22 years of teaching experience mostly on graduate level, supervised more than 60 MSc thesis and 50 Bachelor thesis and is an experienced PhD supervisor. She published 82 papers in edited volumes and academic journals (including leading journals such as: Climatic Change, Energy Policy, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Renewable Energy, Marine Policy) According to Google Scholar her h-index is 24 (as of September 2020) with a record of 2,307 citations for her published work. |
