Agapi Altini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia. She worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Industrial Design in the TEI of Western Macedonia from 2008-2019, and as a Lecturer and non-tenure track Lecturer in the Centre for Foreign Languages & Physical Education, in the TEI of W. Macedonia from 1984-2008. She graduated the Department of English Language and Literature, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and she is an MA holder in Linguistics (TESOL), University of Surrey, UK.

Her teaching experience to date includes teaching English for Academic and Specific Purposes (ESP / EAP), mainly in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and also in the Departments of Product & Systems Design, and Chemical Engineering. She also taught English for Academic and Specific Purposes (EAP/ESP) at the TEI of W. Macedonia (Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Pollution Control Technologies, Accounting and Finance and Business Administration), as well as in the Department of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (Extended Education Programmes) and Greek to Erasmus students. In addition, she worked in English Language Schools, teaching General English, andwas an English Language Oral Examiner for the National Foreign Language Exam System (KPG).

In parallel with her teaching experience and since 2020, she has been working on the translation of the main website and individual departments of the University of Western Macedonia. In addition, she was a Scientific Associate in the Careers Office, TEI of W. Macedonia (2003-2007), organising conferences and meetings, developing, and editing prospectuses, Career & Academic Guides and electronic material (’e-news’, monthly web newsletter).

Her professional interests include Linguistics, Teaching Methodology of English of academic and scientific texts (EAP/ESP), discourse analysis and Systemic Functional Linguistics, translation of academic texts, new technologies in education, as well as multilingualism cultural diversity. She has attended seminars on Linguistics, teaching English to non-native speakers, teaching English for Academic and Specific Purposes to non-native speakers, Computer Assisted Language learning (CALL), teaching Greek language as a second language, methodology of teaching English, ESP material design and development, and Content-Led Integrated Language Learning (CLILL). She is author of the book English for Mechanical Engineering (EAP) and has designed and developed teaching material for Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering (division of Pollution Control Technologies) and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM). She has also developed material for Greek language teaching to foreign students (Erasmus).
