Research |
Efstathios Konstantinidis (EK) is an expert in fluid mechanics. His research has focused on the investigation of fundamental aspects related to the physics of separated and unstable/turbulent flows around isolated and multiple bluff bodies, as well as applications in aeronautical, mechanical, and ocean engineering. EK has expertise in non-intrusive measurement techniques such Laser-Doppler Anemometry and Particle-Image Velocimetry and has developed advanced data-processing tools such as a conditional averaging technique. EK also leverages computational methods for the simulation of complex flows including RANS, LES and hybrid detached-eddy simulations. His recent research aims at the development of a theoretical framework for modeling the unsteady hydrodynamic forces on oscillating bluff bodies for simulation of flow-structure interactions. Some of the research themes include: |

Short Curriculum Vitae |
Dr Efstathios Konstantinidis is Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering UoWM since 2021. He jointed the department in 2004, initially as adjunct staff and then as permanent faculty in 2009. He received a Ph.D. degree in 2001 from King’s College London where he also worked as postdoctoral Research Associate (2001-2002). He was appointed Visiting Research Fellow (2005-2008) at the Division of Engineering at King’s College in recognition of his research achievements. He is the main author of several peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals, including top-caliber journals in the field of fluid mechanics, as well as in proceedings form major international conferences, primarily on the topics of bluff-body aerodynamics and flow-structure interactions. He holds a patent from the Greek Patent Office (OBI). He has served in the scientific committees of international conferences and is co-organizer of the biennial Panhellenic conference FLOW, the main scientific event in Greece in the field of fluid mechanics. He acts as regular reviewer for all major scientific journals in the field of fluid mechanics, and as evaluator for funding councils in several European countries. |
