Dimitrios Giagopoulos is Assistant Professor, in the field of Dynamic Analysis of Machines and Mechanisms at the University of Western Macedonia.
He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics at the University of Patras in 2000 and his Ph.D. in the field of Dynamic Analysis and Modeling of Complex Structures with Linear and Nonlinear Components using Numerical and Experimental Methods, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2006. He is a research associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Laboratory of Machine Dynamics), at same University. Since 2000 participated as a project leader in many research projects in the area of numerical simulation and measurement of ground vehicle dynamics and powertrain. He has worked as a visiting lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in the Department of Production and Management Engineering of the Demokritus University of Thrace and in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia.
His research interests include Structural dynamics and vibration of linear and nonlinear systems, Prediction of dynamic response and determination of displacement, strain and stress fields in structures, by analytical, numerical (Finite element methodologies) and experimental methods, Structural Health Monitoring, Analysis and control of mechanisms and multibody dynamic systems.
