Curriculum vitae |
Dimitrios Giagopoulos was born in 1976 in Argos Orestiko of Kastoria. He is an Associate Professor, in the field of Dynamic and Kinematic Analysis of Machines and Mechanisms at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of University of Western Macedonia and is director of the Laboratory of Vibrations and Machine Dynamics. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics at the University of Patras in 2000 and his Ph.D. in the field of Dynamic Analysis and Modeling of Complex Structures with Linear and Nonlinear Components using Numerical and Experimental Methods, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2006. He has more than 60 publications in International Referred Journals, International Referred Conference Proceedings and Book Chapters. Since 2000 participated as a Scientific Coordinator and Program Leader in more than 25 Research Projects in the field of Structural Dynamics, funded mainly by industry and competitive national programs. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. and as a visiting professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Western Macedonia, and the Department of Production and Management Engineering of the Democritus University of Thrace. He has graduate teaching experience in the THRUST graduate program of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Entex graduate program of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the UoWM. He is member of the Greek Technical Chamber, of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM) and of the Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI). His scientific interests lie in 1. Structural Dynamics, Vibration and Control of Linear and Nonlinear Dynamical Systems and Mechanisms, 2. Optimal Design and Finite Element Analysis of Structures, 3. Parametric Modal Identification, Fault Detection and Finite Element Model Updating Techniques in Structures and Machines, 4. Integrated Reverse Engineering of Structures, 5. Dynamic Analysis, Vibration Monitoring and Fault Detection of Geared Rotor-Bearing Systems, 6. Structural Health Monitoring and Fatigue Analysis. |
