The Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Western Macedonia, aims at catering for education, scientific research and knowledge, and offers students a wide range of options in Mechanical Engineering, such as energy, the environment, materials science, engineering design, and control systems. The course comprises three directions of study (pathways): i) Energy (a. Generation, Transfer and Distribution of Energy, b. Environmental Engineering and Energy Applications), ii) Manufacturing (Manufacturing and Materials), and iii) Industrial Management. Research is funded by the University, the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), and other public bodies. Projects are also funded by the European Union and private entities (companies) in Greece or other countries, under specific conditions and in accordance to academic requirements. Bilateral or multilateral transnational partnerships with universities, research centres and other bodies in Greece, Europe and other countries, are achieved as part of the implementation process of projects.
